just for laughs

A five-year old student is learning to read.
Yesterday he pointed at a picture in a zoo book and said, 'Look at this! It's a frickin' elephant!'I took a deep breath, then asked...'What did you call it?''It's a frickin' elephant! It says so on the picture!'
And so it does...
' A f r i c a n Elephant '
Hooked on phonics! Ain't it wonderful?
Now that's funny, I don't care who you are.

Robert Frost
(1874 - 1963) - American poet. Winner of 4 Pulitzer prizes
By working faithfully eight hours a day, you may get to be a boss and work twelve hours a day.

The brain is a wonderful organ. It starts working when you get up in the morning, and doesn't stop until you get to the office.

Fire and Ice
Robert Frost
Some say the world will end in fire; Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To know that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that, the passing there Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference

books to check out

Trevor has inundated me with books the last few weeks

Here is a great series that Ben has really enjoyed.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians is a series of adventure books written by Rick Riordan, based on Greek mythology.
The series begins with a young boy named Percy Jackson who is diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia discovering that he is the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea. In the process, he learns that the Olympians still exist, along with many other figures and monsters from Greek mythology like Titans, cyclopes, and other creatures. He later becomes the owner of the sword Anaklusmos (which means "Riptide"). This was a gift from his father.
Four books have been published thus far in the series, with one more still to come:
The Lightning Thief (2005)
The Sea of Monsters (April 1, 2006)
The Titan's Curse (May 1, 2007).
The Battle of the Labyrinth (May 6, 2008).
Book 5 (May or Fall 2009).
While using much of the relevant Greek mythology as a basis for the book, some creative license is taken by Riordan.

Chris Columbus has lined up to direct & produce The Lightning Thief for 20th Century Fox through his 1492 Pictures banner.[

Family News

We just got back from a great family reunion. We spent a week with Wade's family, and the kids got to swim hike and look for great rocks. It was great to see everyone. The kids are now out of school with plenty of time for fun.

JUST A THOUGHT

STORY OF ELIJAH The Sunday school teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah the Prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how Elijah built the altar, put wood upon it, cut the steer in pieces, and laid it upon the altar. And then, Elijah commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water and pour it over the altar. He had them do this four times. "Now," said the teacher, "can anyone in the class tell me why the Lord would have Elijah pour water over the steer on the altar?" A little girl in the back of the room started waving her hand, I know! I know!" she said, "To make the gravy!"
LOT'S WIFE The Sunday School teacher was describing how Lot's wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt, when little Johnny interrupted, "My Mummy looked back once, while she was DRIVING," he announced triumphantly, "and she turned into a telephone pole!"

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible, Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the verse. Little Bobby was excit ed about the task -- but he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line. On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Bobby was so nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd and that's all I need to know

Advice for the day: If you have a lot of tension and you
get a headache, do what it says on the aspirin bottle:
"Take two aspirin" and "Keep away from children."
--Author Unknown

3) "Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so?
There's a support group for that.
It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar."
--Drew Carey

A minister during the offertory prayer: "Dear Lord," (he began with arms extended and a rapturous look on his upturned face) "without you we are but dust..." He would have continued, but at that moment one little girl leaned over to her mother and asked quite audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mommy, what is butt dust?" Church was pretty much over at that point.

Family news

Wade's Change

Wade has now changed brokers. It is a big change for us but I am sure he will do great.

He is now with Julie Gleed at Realty World Premier Choice in S. Ogden. She seems great and has lots of enthusiasm and experience. Wade will begin working real estate full time in August, kind of scary but he's great at it and will do well. Good Luck. If you need anything from him call 645-2218
